Hill and Dee Again Named For Wales

After two outstanding performances in the opening games for Wales, Dragons captain and lock Cory Hill has again been selected alongside Alun Wyn Jones as Wales face Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

Dragons hooker Elliot Dee is named as back-up for Lions hooker Ken Owens while there is no place for wing/full-back Hallam Amos.

Lions trio of Dan Biggar, Liam Williams and Leigh Halfpenny return for the must-win NatWest Six Nations clash, with Biggar recovering from a shoulder injury to make his 61st appearance in a half back pairing with Gareth Davies.

Halfpenny, a late withdrawal for the match at Twickenham and Williams will join Steff Evans in the back-three meaning no space for Hallam Amos, whilst Hadleigh Parkes and Scott Williams continuing their partnership in the midfield.

The pack is unchanged with the all-Scarlets front-row of Rob Evans, Ken Owens and Samson Lee featuring for a third consecutive game. Dragons lock Cory Hill partners captain Alun Wyn Jones in the second-row with Aaron Shingler, Josh Navidi and Ross Moriarty comprising the back-row.

“It is great to be able to bring so much experience back into the starting XV and into the backline,” said head coach Warren Gatland, who will take charge of Wales for the 100th time.

“It is the first week we have had everyone in the ‘green’ in terms of availability which is a nice luxury to have and a positive ahead of what is a very important test match against a very good Ireland side.
