Chapron has a good feeling about the Dragons PS XV

Newport Gwent Dragons Premiership Select coach James Chapron, has a good feeling about how well the squad performed in the first half against Jersey RFC last Sunday.

However he knows that there is still a lot of work to still be done to stay at the top of the table. He commented: “The second half wasn’t pretty from our point of view but the boys stuck at it and to score a length of the field try is a really good feeling, which shows how close the group are.”

The Dragons PS team have won two from two matches in the British and Irish Cup so far, after scoring a last minute try from replacement Arwel Robson thanks to a break from centre Barney Nightingale. Chapron added: “It says a lot about Gwent rugby that we can pull a side together in two weeks. The squad is a mixture of talent from the Premiership, Academy and Region. They put together a real team performance, which sets us up nicely for the next round against Doncaster.”

Looking at the performance of individual players Chapron continued: “Aled Brew was solid and showed his experience, the front five worked exceptionally hard throughout the game and our half backs gave us some real control in the first half which is what we wanted.”

Tickets are currently on sale for the Dragons PS next home matches in the BIC. First up is Doncaster on 19th December at The Bridgefield in Bedwas and the final home match will be played at Eugene Cross Park in Ebbw Vale on 23rd January 2016, against Connacht Eagles.
