Whitehead Steelers Kit Launch – A Huge Success!

The weather held off and everyone breathed a ‘sigh of relief’ that Whitehead Steelers JRFC Kit Launch Evening went ahead to celebrate the new Kit for 2013/14.

The evening was attended by over 400 people including players and sponsors.

Steelers teams had their official 2013/14 photographs taken in their new kit, with the photographs to be used on our new website designed by Creative Insomnia one of our kit sponsors. Check www.steelersjrfc.co.uk in 2014 for the new website.

The players (and some of the mums) were pleased that Jason Tovey of Newport Gwent Dragons was able to attend as guest of honour. Jason watched all the teams train, as well as meeting a number of the younger players. Some of the questions asked to Jason were interesting…. And probably best forgotten (Note to coaches - practice questions in advance next time and test players for Haribo Sweets in advance).

Thanks to our excellent links with WRU and in particular a great supporter of the club – Chris Cornford, we were able to secure the Six Nations Trophy, which proved a hit with all those that attended, with photos taken all night of players and family members posing with the trophy.
To say thank you to our sponsors, each sponsor was presented with a signed shirt from the players by one of our U7 players and Jason Tovey. Our sponsors for the new kit are Creative Insomnia, Morgan Denton Jones, Orange Electrics, Summerhill Care Homes and our charity sponsor Ty Hafan (chosen by our parents).

Finally our winner of the ‘Guess the Score’ fund raiser was announced on the night as Ieuan Moore and Ieuan won a signed Steelers shirt from Jason Tovey and Steelers Merchandise vouchers. The feedback from all that attended was very positive, with Greg Woods Regional Development Manager for the Dragons saying “You should be proud of the section you have created – it’s a credit to the region.”
