Basham, who hails from Talywain, just a few miles north of Pontypool, in the Torfaen borough area of Gwent, made his senior debut for the region in the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Scarlets in January 2018.

The dynamic forward, who started out at junior level with Talywain RFC and has been developed in the Dragons Academy, has also impressed on the international stage with Wales Under-20s and is one of the rising stars of Welsh rugby.

Basham, who has played for both Bedwas and Cross Keys in the Premiership, made nine appearances in the 2018/19 season and was named the Young Player of the Season at the region's end-of-season awards.

The young back row has since gone on to make 49 appearances for his home region scoring twelve tries in the process. His form for the Dragons saw him called up to Wayne Pivac’s Welsh squad for the second time ahead of the 2021 summer internationals against Canada and Argentina.
