Scrum half Hope signs new deal

03/04/2024

Signed and sealed! Dragons RFC have today continued the drive to retain the club’s best young homegrown talent by agreeing new terms with scrum half Che Hope.

The 21-year-old made a try-scoring debut for the club against Emirates Lions in South Africa in November 2022 and has four senior appearances to his name to date.

A former Wales Under-20s international, Hope is another player who has impressed for Newport RFC in the Indigo Group Premiership this season.

The Hollybush-born number nine joins fellow scrum half Morgan Lloyd and centre duo Harri Ackerman and Joe Westwood in agreeing a new terms at Dragons.

Head Coach Dai Flanagan said: “Che is an exciting young prospect for us who regularly looks the best player on the park when he features in the Indigo Group Premiership.

“Che already has exposure at senior level for Dragons, including this season during our trip to Glasgow Warriors, and has been around the set-up as a travelling reserve on several occasions.

“What is important for his development now is game time and playing as much as possible week in and week out.

“We look forward to both Che and Morgan (Lloyd) continuing their progress and pushing the senior figures in our squad for more action in the coming seasons.”
