Centre star Ackers agrees new terms

02/04/2024

The good news continues! Dragons RFC are delighted to announce highly-rated centre Harri Ackerman has signed a long-term contract with the Men of Gwent.

The 19-year-old made his club debut in the EPCR Challenge Cup fixture against Oyonnax in December and first start in the New Year’s Day league victory over Scarlets.

Dragons Academy graduate Ackerman – currently rehabbing from a leg injury – has made five senior appearances for Dai Flanagan’s men.

The Newbridge star has also been a mainstay of the Wales Under-20s set-up in recent seasons and captained his country earlier this year.

Ackerman follows Joe Westwood in agreeing a new terms at Dragons.

“The ceiling is so high for Harri. He has a fantastic career ahead of him so the news that he wants to do that as a Dragon is a huge boost for us all,” said Flanagan.

“Harri is another big man in our midfield and a real ball playing centre who makes so much happen around him.

“He will compete with the likes of Aneurin Owen and Steff Hughes for the 12 jersey going forward and we’re excited to see him return to the field following his successful rehabilitation.

“Both Harri and Joe (Westwood) are Gwent boys who want to be successful at our club. Contracting both in the long-term is a huge boost for our midfield options going forward.”

Ackerman said: “I’m thrilled to agree new terms and commit to Dragons.

“My focus now is fully on my recovery and making a successful return next season. My thanks to all the supporters for their support and continued well wishes.”
