Fairbrother & Keddie to hit milestones

21/10/2022

Prop Lloyd Fairbrother and back row Harri Keddie hit milestones for Dragons RFC as they face Ospreys in a BKT United Rugby Championship derby clash on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

The Men of Gwent make six changes to the starting line-up as they return to Newport.

Fairbrother starts in the front row to make his 150th appearance – becoming only the 11th player to achieve that feat.

Keddie also becomes a centurion as he is recalled and clocks up his 100th appearance – the 33rd player to join the 100 Club for Dragons.

Aaron Wainwright is named at blindside flanker while prop Rhodri Jones - this week named in the Wales squad for the autumn internationals - will face his former club up front.

Argentina international scrum half Gonzalo Bertranou starts his first game since returning from Rugby Championship action with the Pumas.

Centre Steff Hughes, who starts his first game for the club, and full back Jordan Williams are also named in the starting line-up. Sio Tomkinson and Angus O’Brien are ruled out through injury.

Sam Davies – who will face his former club – and Max Clark are named among the replacements.

“Ospreys are a very good team. They are forward orientated, and they have a lot of good players, full of internationals and experience,” said Forwards Coach, Mefin Davies.

“I’m sure everyone on that field, especially after the Wales squad being named, will be desperate to perform. Those that have been selected will want to put in a big performance.

“Welsh derby games are great occasions. A lot of players know each other very well and it often comes down to fine margins on the day as to who wins.

“For us, it’s a matter of working hard and making sure we get the right result back on home soil.”
