Newport City Homes extend partnership

30/11/2022

Dragons RFC are delighted to announce the club’s successful community partnership and impactful work with Newport City Homes (NCH) has been extended.

The award-winning Dragons Community team and NCH have worked closely together since first joining forces in 2019.

NCH provide homes and services to more than 10,000 residents, leaseholders, and shared owners in the city of Newport.

As the largest social landlord in Newport, NCH are uniquely placed to play a key role in ensuring residents and communities are given opportunities to grow and succeed.

Over the last four years, NCH have supported the Dragons Phoenix – our homeless provision – as a community partner.

The support of NCH has allowed the Phoenix team to receive playing kit and leisurewear. The provision also now incorporates an off-field strategy to help participants outside of the playing environment to positively impact on their lives.

NCH has now extended its work with Dragons Community to promote our family of provisions to residents and communities across the city.

Both parties will also be working closely with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) who are looking to refer people onto the family of provisions as part of their health and wellbeing programme.

Mike Sage, Community Manager at Dragons Community, said: “We are proud of our partnership with Newport City Homes and the way it has positively impacted on our Dragons Phoenix provision.

“With health and wellbeing high on all our agendas, the extension of our work together is fantastic news and ensures people across Newport have access to a diverse variety of inspiring and often life-changing opportunities.

“Work is already under way and the Dragons Community team have really enjoyed engaging with NCH residents and making a positive impact.”

Mark Chircop – Economic Development and Partnership Facilitator at Newport City Homes, said: “We at NCH are absolutely delighted to extend the partnership with Dragons. The work that Dragons in the Community do is unbelievable, and we look forward to opening and expanding these provisions to our customers.

“The Family of Provisions that are provided by Dragons in the community, will allow our customers to access a full service of provisions that will have a sizeable impact on our customers and communities.’
