Homegrown duo determined to kick on

21/01/2022

Prop aces Chris Coleman and Josh Reynolds have vowed to keep learning and developing at Dragons after signing new deals with the region.

The homegrown duo have come through the Dragons Academy set-up before progressing into the senior set-up.

Newport-born prop Coleman, 23, made his debut for Dragons in the Judgement Day clash with Scarlets in 2018 and has gone on to make 20 appearances to date for the Men of Gwent.

Loosehead Reynolds, 23, made his senior debut in the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Scarlets in 2017 and has made 32 appearances.

Both have been rewarded for their development with contract extensions as Dragons invest in the best young talent at our region.

“It’s massive for me to re-sign here,” admitted Reynolds. “It’s my home region and I just want to see the place progress, and everyone do well.

“I’ve been here since I was 15, five years in the senior set-up, so I’ve been here for a while. I’m really enjoying it and I can’t wait to keep learning and developing here.

“There is a lot of us that have come through the Academy here and we are all a really tight group, we enjoy each other’s company, and we like seeing each other do well. It’s a really supportive environment to be in.

“It’s always about working hard,” he added. “Learning and trying to gain as much experience as possible. It’s what the game is about and I am really enjoying it."

His comments are echoed by Coleman who revealed how working with the coaching team had taken his game to the next level.

“I believe it’s the best environment for me,” he said. “We’ve had some new coaches come in over the last couple of years, Mefin (Davies), Dean (Ryan) have all really helped me and I think it’s good for my development to stay here.

“I’ve been here since Under-16s and there is a few of us who have come up together and we all know each other well. I’m excited to see what’s to come in the coming years.

“Now is the time to keep my head down after re-signing. Keep working hard and see how far we can go.”
