Head of Medical Stirling to leave Dragons

10/08/2022

Dragons RFC can confirm that Ben Stirling, Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services at the club, is to leave to take up a role with the Welsh Rugby Union.

Stirling linked up with Dragons RFC in 2017, having amassed a wealth of experience in elite sport at Warrington Wolves, Castleford Tigers, Celtic Crusaders and Wales Rugby League.

A master of Sport Directorship from Manchester Metropolitan University, he has also worked as Performance Director for Table Tennis Wales.

Stirling has been an integral part of the club’s backroom staff over the past five years and was charged with overseeing the physio and medical care of the Dragons squad during his time in Gwent.

Everyone at Dragons would like to thank Ben for all his efforts and wish him every success in his future role.

Dean Ryan, Director of Dragons RFC, said: “Ben has been an important figure at the club and has created a medical department that is focused on optimising squad performance and player welfare.

“We wish him all the very best for his new role with the WRU, following more than five years of excellent service.

“We will now appoint a leading candidate to succeed Ben in this exciting role.”
