Dragons Rugby Wheelchair Team have been given a boost ahead of a proposed return to action thanks to support from Compeed, the official headline partners of Dragons Rugby.
The blister plaster specialists have been fantastic supporters of Dragons Rugby over the last two seasons, with a number of initiatives launched to support the region and wider supporter base.
Compeed have also provided incredible support to the Dragons Community team and our inclusivity efforts – and have now thrown their support behind the Dragons Rugby Wheelchair Team.
New training shirts as well as a range of Compeed products have been delivered to the team as they gear up for a return to action in the coming months.
Ieuan Coombes, Dragons Wheelchair Head Coach, said: “A big thank you to Compeed for their support. The blister products will support our training and match preparation and be a huge help towards injury prevention.
“The support and products from Compeed will enable the team to enjoy wheelchair rugby and help players deliver their best performance. Welcome to the team and thanks again for your support.”
Gareth Sullivan, Dragons Inclusion Officer, added: “The support shown by Compeed is testament to the growth within the Dragons inclusion provisions.
“The Dragons Wheelchair Rugby Team have shown great togetherness throughout this difficult period and have been a constant support to each other in helping motivate and drive each other and the provision forward.
“The additional support Compeed brings will help on-court activities, when it’s safe to return, and ensure players can guard against potential injury in the hugely combative sport that is wheelchair rugby.
“Throughout my time involved with the team it has become a hugely humbling experience to witness the ‘no-barrier approach’ taken by all involved and the continued growth throughout the provision and lifelong friendships being made.”
Compeed believes a blister should never stop you being at your best. Offering a wide range of products to help you take care of your feet, when blisters strike, Compeed® Keeps You On Track.
Clare Newins, Marketing Manager UK, Ireland & Nordics for Compeed, said: “When we heard the Dragons Wheelchair Rugby Team were gearing up for a return to action, we were keen to do our bit to aid their comeback preparations. We're sure the squad can't wait to get back on the court.
“As lockdown restrictions start to ease, the restart of team sports is a very exciting moment for people across the UK who have missed the camaraderie of the dressing room and the chance to stay active with friends.
“Of course, after a few months out of action, we're predicting a boom in blisters but as we always say, Compeed 'Keeps You On Track'.”
News of the support was also welcomed by Dan Nicholls from Dragons Commercial team.
“It’s been so rewarding for all involved that we have been able to combine our official headline partner, Compeed, along with the Dragons Wheelchair Team,” he said.
“Compeed’s appetite to help in the Community has been at the forefront of our discussions during these uncertain times, and it’s been such a wonderful experience to get this project over the line.
“To be able to integrate a partner, an inclusion team and the commercial team at Dragons has been a very humbling and positive experience which stands us in a great position as hopefully we start to return to some normality during 2021.”
