We want to go 4 from 4- Moriarty

10/10/2019

Ross Moriarty says Wales are focused on their final group stage opponents Uruguay after they overcame the flying Fiji to book a place in the World Cup quarter-finals.

An expected victory for Wales over Uruguay in Kumamoto on Sunday will set up a last-eight appointment with Six Nations rivals France seven days later.

France have been confirmed as Pool C runners-up following the cancellation of their game against England in Yokohama on Saturday due to the approach of Super Typhoon Hagibis.

Wales were pushed all the way by a fired-up Fiji side at Oita Stadium before wing Josh Adams's try hat-trick helped Wales fightback to a 29-17 Pool D success.

Dragons number eight Ross Moriarty made his first start of the tournament against Fiji and the abrasive back row forward was to the fore against Fiji in Oita, as Wales twice rallied from being behind on the scoreboard to get the bonus point win.

“ There were a lot of 'ooh' moments out there," said Ross. "Luckily, I wasn't on the end of many of them.

“It was tough and a massively physical game. But we knew Fiji were going to be dangerous and expected that coming into the game. "To be fair to everyone they got back up on their feet and went again which is what we wanted to see.

"We knew what we were coming up against with Fiji. They started fast, but we didn't panic.

“They are a very unique team to play against, with their off-loading skills. There are not very many teams that have the individuals to do that and some of their players with the ball are amazing runners and they showed that today.

"Three wins is what we wanted, but we know we have another game in the group on Sunday and we want to make it four from four in the group and that’s what we’ll be doing now is recovering and looking forward to Uruguay.

"The conditioning staff have been great in preparing us and with the tough camps we’ve had so we’ll get ready to go again."

The Rugby World Cup fantasy league with Superbru is still going strong with almost three hundred players. Don't forget to pick your team and make any necessary transfers ahead of the next round of action
