Basham - We are making progress

26/12/2019

Back row Taine Basham insisted Dragons should be 'proud' of the derby day performance with Cardiff Blues as they were narrowly edged out 16-12 in the Guinness PRO14 at Cardiff Arms Park.

Man-of-the-match Basham capped a dynamic performance by scoring a first half try – his 8th in 12 games this season.

And his intercept set up a second half score from Matthew Screech that sent Dragons into the lead just after the break before Cardiff Blues eventually ground out the win.

Dean Ryan’s men still left with a fully deserved losing bonus point and Basham believes there is plenty to be positive about before the home clash with Ospreys in the New Year.

“We’re working hard every week to improve his region and we leave Cardiff with our heads held high,” said Basham.

"We can be proud with the performance and the result on a different day could have gone our way.

“It was nice to get involved with the game,” he added, about his own performance.

“But it’s now about next week and the Ospreys back on our home patch and we want to keep the winning momentum going at Rodney Parade.”
