French giants Castres first up in Europe

Dragons will open the new European Challenge Cup season with a mouth-watering home clash against French TOP14 giants Castres Olympique.

The Round 1 game will take place at Rodney Parade on Saturday, November 16 (kick-off 3pm).

Dragons face Castres for the first time since the 2015/16 European season, when they triumphed 31-18 on home soil.

Dean Ryan’s men make a 2,300-mile trip to Russia in Round 2 as they visit the Kuban Krasnador Stadium.

Dragons, who have drawn Russian opposition for the third time in four years, face Enisei-STM on Friday, November 22 (kick-off TBC)

A December European double-header will see Dragons go head-to-head with Worcester Warriors on consecutive weekends.

Sixways Stadium will host a Round 3 encounter on Saturday, December 7 (kick-off 3pm) before a Round 4 fixture at Rodney Parade on Friday, December 13 (kick-off 8pm).

The last time the two teams met in the 2016/17 European season it was Worcester who won 33-20 at Sixways before Dragons took a 22-7 victory back in Newport.

Dragons travel to France and the Stade Pierre Fabre in Round 5. The game will be played the weekend of 10/11/12 January, with TV broadcasters yet to confirm the date and kick-off.

The pool stages will conclude with a home fixture against Enisei-STM on Friday, January 17 (kick-off 8pm).

The final of the European Challenge Cup is at the Stade de Marseille on Friday, May 22, 2020.
