The Welsh Region return to their home ground, set for four matches in the month of February including their Guinness PRO14 match against Edinburgh which is being hosted by Ebbw Vale, at Eugene Cross Park.

The Men of Gwent have made eight changes to the team that lost out to Saracens at Allianz Park. The back three contains two of these changes as versatile back Ashton Hewitt returns to the starting XV and is joined by wing Jared Rosser, whilst Rio Dyer retains his position. Jarryd Sage replaces Sam Beard in the centre partnership alongside Connor Edwards, whilst the half-backs see Zane Kirchner joined by scrum-half Charlie Davies who makes his 50th appearance for the Dragons.

The front row sees props Gerard Ellis and Nicky Thomas pack down alongside hooker Liam Belcher, whilst there’s also one change in the second row as Joe Davies replaces Max Williams who has been called into the Wales U20s squad. The back row has two changes made to it as captain Harri Keddie moves to number eight for flankers Aaron Wainwright and James Benjamin to join him.

Dragons forwards coach, Ceri Jones believes that this match is an opportunity for players who are looking to put their hands up for the upcoming Guinness PRO14 games.

“February is a very important month as we are back into the league and it’s exciting for everyone,” said Jones.

“With the players coming back from injury there’s a lot of competition for places for those vital games coming up, so we want to build momentum off the back of this and take it into the next period.

“There was a lot of good in the Saracens game and I know that the result doesn’t look like that. If you cut the period which contained the silly mistakes, then there was a lot of good in there. We just need to be the side that started the game well and the side that ended the game to be honest, if we decide to play in that manner then the result will take care of itself.”

The replacements bench features Wales centre Tyler Morgan and prop Dan Suter who is set to make his Dragons debut. As well as Rhys Buckley who returns to the matchday 23 from injury and lock Henri Williams will look to make an impact off the bench following his debut for the Men of Gwent last weekend.
