Ulster v Dragons Match Report

In a wet and windy clash against a strong Irish outfit, the Dragons couldn’t take away the win against Ulster at Ravenhill on Saturday night.

With seven changes made from last weekend’s match day squad, including a long list of injuries and three international call ups, the Dragons had to make use of their young guns for their Guinness PRO12 clash.

Ulster came out fighting as after 15mins Olding skidded a low kick over the Dragons try-line for Darren Cave to chase. The Ireland international looked set to touch down for a simple score only for a covering James Thomas to reach the ball just before him and prevent the try.

However Jackson opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a penalty in front of the posts and doubled the lead two minutes later when another grubber kick led to a second penalty.

Cave slipped a pass to Olding who used his strength to hold off Dragons defenders and dot down.

Jackson's conversion bounced back off the posts before the boot of O'Brien finally got the Men of Gwent on the board six minutes before half-time.

Olding secured a second try by diving over in the corner, but once again Ulster missed the conversion before a second O'Brien penalty narrowed the deficit to 16-6.

The second half consisted of Ulster barrelling over the try line and this time Humphries added the extras just before the final whistle was blown.
