Dragons PS name team for BIC opener

Dragons Premiership Select have named their side to face London Scottish in the opening round of the British and Irish Cup campaign.

Dragons Academy Manager James Chapron will head up the Premiership select coaching team assisted by Thomas Rhys Thomas and Chris Horsman, with the addition of Dragons ace Zane Kirchner. 

Once again the Premiership Select side is a mixture of experience and youthful Dragons, coupled with talented members of Welsh Premiership sides.

Tomorrow’s match will see experienced scrum-half Charlie Davies take on the role of skipper after being named captain against London Scottish this Saturday at the Athletic Ground, he is joined in the half-backs by Dorian Jones. The centre partnership sees Barney Nightingale and Newport RFC’s Chay Smith get the nod, with wings Rio Dyer and Toby Fricker getting an opportunity to start after impressing in training. The back three is completed by Cross Keys fullback Josh Prosser.

The front row sees Dragons Academy hooker Ellis Shipp named alongside Dragons' props Phil Price and Keagan Bale. The second row also has experience added to it as Scott Andrews is named alongside Ebbw Vale’s Lance Randall. The back row sees Ben Roach and Scott Matthews selected alongside number 8 James Sheekey.

The replacements bench consists of Alun Rees, John Lavender, Garin Harris, Josh Skinner, Nathan Hudd, James Leadbetter and Joe Goodchild.

The Dragons PS home matches are free entry to all Dragons Seasonal Members as well as all Gwent Principality Premiership sides Season Ticket Holders, supporters must bring their Season Tickets with them to gain free access on the day.

Supporters without Dragons Seasonal Memberships or Gwent Premiership Season Tickets, will be able to purchase a ticket on the gate with prices at just £5 for an adult and £2.50 for concessions, U16s go for free!
