Wear red for Wales & Velindre for £1

Welsh stars from the world of sport and entertainment are backing Velindre Cancer Centre’s campaign.

Welsh stars from the world of sport and entertainment are backing Velindre Cancer Centre’s campaign for every pupil, in every school in Wales, to wear red for Wales and donate £1 on Friday 10th March 2017, when Wales take on Ireland in the RBS Six Nations at Principality Stadium, Cardiff.

For this day, only Velindre will change from its traditional green colour to red in support of the Wales rugby team.

Velindre supporters such as Martyn Williams, James Bradfield,  Craig Bellamy, Gareth Thomas and Jamie Roberts are backing the campaign and will be tweeting their old schools to ask for their support.

Jonathan Davies MBE President of Velindre Cancer Centre said,

“I think this is fantastic idea to get youngsters involved. Not only can they back Wales, which I know the players and coaches really appreciate, but they can also raise funds for a fantastic charity.”

“I’m sure that many of the pupils, parents, staff, teachers and head teachers in schools throughout Wales will in some way be affected by cancer so it would be superb to get their backing. I hope that hundreds of schools throughout Wales will take part."

“Cancer will affect one in two people born after 1960 and it’s a simple statistic that drives home the battle we face against this terrible disease.”
