The Boxing Day GUINNESS PRO14 clash between Dragons and Cardiff Blues at Rodney Parade today is now a capacity sell out.

The news comes after the final tickets were snapped up this morning for the crucial clash, which will see Bernard Jackman’s team aim to secure victory over their south -east Wales rivals.

The visit of Cardiff Blues to Rodney Parade provides the first of a double derby Christmas in Newport, with the Dragons also facing Ospreys on New Year’s Eve.

The Blues clash has sold out consistently in recent years with Rodney Parade once again proving the popular destination for the traditional Boxing Day fixture for a new generation of supporters today, with 120 children from three regional Caerleon, Chepstow and St Julians HSOB RFC in attendance.

A number of engaging, free of charge activities, along with live music in the We Fight Any Claim Fanzone area, will again be a feature of Rodney Parade match day experience for spectators.

“Following a hectic December for Rodney Parade with 11 games at the venue today’s  match against the Blues has captured the public imagination and we’re delighted that there has been such high demand for the game,” said Mark Jones, Head of Operations.

“Continuing our aim to open the gates of Rodney Parade to new customers, we’re expecting a family audience today and we can’t wait to host another brilliant derby spectacle in Newport.

“We are pleased to record another sell-out for this match for a third successive season."

The Guinness Pro14 clash gets underway at 2.00pm today.
