The meeting follows an extensive information pack that had been sent out to shareholders and posted on the Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport RFC websites on Thursday 13th April. This included a comprehensive circular explaining the proposal and a ‘Question and Answer’ sheet. Documents from the information pack can be downloaded here.

WRU Chief Executive Martyn Phillips, Newport RFC Chief Executive Stuart Davies and Newport RFC Director Jim McCreedy were in attendance together with Farsight Consultancy who have been advising throughout the process. The Open Meeting provided supporters with an important opportunity to discuss the proposed deal and to gain further detail on the WRU’s plans following the take-over, and how these will affect Newport RFC.

Stuart Davies chaired the meeting, and reflected:

"It was great to see such a big turnout tonight in the Business Suite, indicative of the level of interest in the information that has been shared in recent weeks. This is important information which will shape the shareholder vote.

"It was particularly beneficial to all present to have Martyn in attendance who was able to give the WRU’s perspective as well as share their thoughts on the future for both the Dragons and Newport RFC at Rodney Parade."
