Amos looking forward to Rugby World Cup

Newport Gwent Dragons wing Hallam Amos looks forward to the challenge ahead amongst the National squad as they prepare for their gruelling training sessions in Switzerland.

Amos, along with Dragons stars Taulupe Faletau, Jack Dixon and Tyler Morgan, is currently taking part in the intense World Cup preparations with Wales in preparation to be named in the final 31 World Cup playing squad, which will be announced at the end of August.

The 20-year-old has worn a grey Wales shirt but dreams of donning the famous red jersey. He said: “The jersey from the Tonga game is at home. I’ve got the one from the final of the Junior World Championship framed and I will do the same with it at some point.

“It was a grey shirt so I’d like to get a red one – the real iconic image of Welsh rugby – at some point.”

During his time in the extended World Cup squad Amos will face a nervous wait for his second year results from his University course of medicine studies at Cardiff Uni. Amos commented: “I will get the results halfway through the camp in Switzerland so it will either make it a little bit easier out there or I will start dreading the revision starting again!

“Hopefully I won’t have re-sits. If I do then they will be around the time of the first Ireland Test.

“It’s been good and it’s been tough. I’m busy all the time but I had two weeks off rugby before the exams to knuckle down when I was in the library 12 hours a day.”
