Lyn Jones: “We showed alot of character”

Newport Gwent Dragons came away with a losing bonus point against Connacht on the weekend, moving them above Cardiff Blues in the Guinness PRO12 table.

The men of Gwent put in a spirited performance on the weekend after going down to 14 men after 15 minutes of play. This was due to skipper Rynard Landman, being penalised during the first quarter for a late charge down, which resulted in a red card for the lock. The Dragons went on to put in a gutsy performance for the remainder of the game and impressed both fans and director of rugby, Lyn Jones.

Jones commented: “We showed a lot of character, ability and endeavour."

“We are not going to win anything with 14 men on the field. It was too much for any team that's why the effort was so pleasing.

“That last try was outstanding from us, our approach work, individual ability and carrying at the gain line speaks volumes.”

Newport Gwent Dragons face Ulster at home on Sunday 8th March, KO 16:00. Tickets are now on sale for this game and are available online at www.newportgwentdragons.com or by calling 01633 674990.
