Following their bucket collection at the Dragons match against Leinster, a local charity have said thank you to the Men of Gwent in an unusual way.

Four Paws Animal Rescue who take pets in from individuals unable to cope and from local Dog Pounds where unclaimed dogs face possible euthanasia raised over £400 at the match.

The latest arrival at the Four Paws Animal Rescue centre in Newport has been called “Rodney” after home of Dragons rugby.

“He is named after Rodney Parade and we deliberately chose a black and brown boy to compliment the Dragons kit,” said Rodney’s foster parent Sue Doherty.

“He is by far the liveliest boy we've had and never stops running and playing so would certainly play on the wing. He even loves playing with his rugby ball!”

Rodney was found in the Torfaen area with all 4 feet tied together when he was rescued by the local Pound and then taken on to Four Paws.

Anyone is interested in adopting Rodney or one of the many dogs searching for a good home or in supporting the Four Paws project, should visit the charity’s website www.fourpawsanimalrescue.org.uk
