Bearman is Magners Player of the Month

Magners Original Irish Cider is pleased to announce that Joe Bearman has been named the Magners League Player of the Month

Magners Original Irish Cider is pleased to announce that Joe Bearman has been named the first Magners League Player of the Month for Wales for 2008.

The award finishes off an impressive month for the Dragon’s flanker. Bearman’s consistent performances have seen him voted Man of the Match twice in the past month, and this has been endorsed by the Welsh Rugby media who voted Joe as their overwhelming choice for this award. The 28 year old’s Man of the Match performance against the Scarlets on New Year’s Day and a try against the Glasgow Warriors in another well-fought victory rounded off an impressive month for the back row forward and gave the Region the perfect start to 2008 in the Magners League.

These two impressive victories have seen the Newport Gwent Dragons jump to sixth in the Magners League table and are on course to qualify for next season’s Heineken Cup

On hearing the news, Bearman commented, "It’s great to receive this recognition for myself and the Dragons team. It’s been a tough season with highs and lows but we entered the New Year with a positive and determined start and this has paid off particularly in the Magners League. Our win against the Scarlets on New Years Day gave the team great momentum going into the game against Glasgow Warriors on the Friday which resulted in another win. Our next game is Ulster away who themselves have experienced a difficult season although they must be buoyed by the win against Bourgoin in the Heineken Cup. We hope to follow up our win at home against Ulster with another win on the road."

Richard Barnes, Brand Manager for Wm. Magner Ltd GB commented, “I’d like to congratulate Joe on the award, its deserved recognition for his excellent performances over the festive period. The Dragons recent results in the Magners League illustrate how competitive the League has now become and that on their day any team can beat the other. I wish Joe and the Dragons the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
