Cardiff Blues proved too strong for the Newport Gwent Dragons on Friday night when the home side failed to fire at Rodney Parade.

The Blues had more or less sewn the game up by half time with tries from Jamie Roberts, Tal Selley and Rhys Williams and they added two further tries after the interval when Selley and Mark Lewis both crossed.

The visitors first try came just after six minutes when The Dragons were turned over and following a cross filed kick from Nick Robinson which was gathered by Xavier Rush Roberts ran in from 50m out to score the try. Robinson missed with the conversion but added a penalty when Adam Black was penalised for off side.

Ten minutes later and Rhys Williams scored a try.

Aled Thomas did add two penalties to keep the home side in the hunt but Selley scored just before the interval.

Two minutes into the second half and The Dragons were a man down when Aled Thomas was sent to the sin bin and with a man advantage Selley crossed for his second and secured the bonus point for the visitors.

The Blues had Paul Tito sent to the sin bin and after some impressive forward drives Richard Parks crashed over for his first try in a Dragons jersey and Aled Thomas was successful with the conversion.

However, Joe Bearman, a second half replacement also spent 10 minutes in the sin bin and Robinson kicked a penalty before Mark Lewis got the Blues fifth and Robinson had the final say with a drop goal as The Dragons failed to build on their fantastic start to their Magners League campaign with the win at the Scarlets. There is now a week off for The Dragons before they travel to Connacht.
