Extra Pre-Season Game Arranged

The Bank Holiday weekend is set to have an Irish flavour at Rodney Parade as the Newport Gwent Dragons have arranged an extra pre-season fixture against former Heineken Cup winners Ulster

The Bank Holiday weekend is set to have an Irish flavour at Rodney Parade as the Newport Gwent Dragons have arranged an extra pre-season fixture against former Heineken Cup winners Ulster for Saturday 28th August and with the Newport team having a fixture the night before against Munster U21s there is a feast of rugby for supporters to enjoy at Rodney Parade.

The Dragons faced Ulster on four occasions last season with the spoils currently even at two apiece, The Dragons winning both home matches. “The Bank Holiday weekend is set to be a terrific weekend of rugby for our supporters,” commented Chief Executive Andy Marinos. “They can enjoy a Newport match on the Friday evening against Munster U21s who are a strong, professional outfit and the next generation of Munster players. Then on the Saturday The Dragons take on Ulster who will be familiar to supporters. The Ulster match will be a real test for the Dragons boys who will have faced Zurich Premiership side Northampton Saints the weekend before. This will also provide our ‘new boys’ with the opportunity of putting themselves on Parade here at their home ground and get a taste of the fantastic support and atmosphere that we have become accustomed to over the years. These pre-season matches will provide us with the ideal preparation to launching our Celtic League campaign.”
