Pitch Perfect: Planting The Seeds

16/07/2021

Extensive pitch and stadium development work at Rodney Parade continues at pace as the rebuild back to the surface level is now complete.

Contractors South Wales Sports Grounds have entered the final stages of the pitch development and completed the laser grading of the playing surface alongside the base fertilisers have been distributed across the pitch.

The final stage is implementing the grass seeds which has begun today (Friday 16th July) and will be completed by the start of next week.

While the grass takes time to grow, preparation and installation of the 4g around the playing field will take place.

In four weeks-time the stitching of the playing surface will begin, and the development of the pitch will then have been completed.

Home dressing room work, that will eventually double the floor space, remains ongoing.

Jon Raymond, Facilities Manager at Dragons Rugby, said: “It’s great to see all the hard work starting to come together now as we near the end of this big project of developing the pitch.”

“I need to praise both the contractors South Wales Sports Grounds and Green Irrigation Limited for their professionalism and hard work throughout the whole process, they have been a pleasure to work alongside.”

“We all look forward to seeing the finished article in the very near future and are excited to get the boys playing on it ahead of the new season.”
