Newport Gwent Dragons are delighted to announce that both Colin Charvis and Ceri Sweeney have committed themselves to the region after signing contract extensions.

Colin Charvis joined the region in the late summer of 2006 and since that time has made a huge impact both on and off the field. He has been in tremendous form which has led to a recall from Gareth Jenkins for the Welsh Six Nations squad.

Speaking on his contract extension Charvis said, "One of the crucial factors in me re-signing was the fact that we have really improved as a side over the course of the season. As a squad we have a lot to offer and I feel I can contribute for another season. We are building as a squad and have a quarterfinal Challenge Cup game in the near future. We are looking to reach a level of success and if I can play a small part in that then I am delighted to pledge my future with the region."

Ceri Sweeney has been with the Men of Gwent for three seasons and his contract extension will keep him with the Rodney Parade side for another year. Sweeney has amassed 396 points for The Dragons during his time. He commented, "I am pleased to have signed an extension with The Dragons. Having been with the region for three seasons I am settled and have really enjoyed my rugby this season. There is a good coaching / management staff, a great bunch of players and I am confident we can be successful as a region on and off field, these were other factors in me putting my signature to paper."

Commenting on the latest re-signings Rugby Manager Jim McCreedy said, "Both players have been in tremendous form for The Dragons and are hugely valuable members of our squad. We are delighted they have signed; they bring experience to the squad and are the type of quality player we want here at The Dragons. They are committed individuals and bring a lot to the region."
